The Catalyse Projects Forum meets twice a year and welcomes any qualified CAT practitioners or psychotherapists interested in attending. More information about the Projects Forum is available here.
The Projects Forum meeting on 16th October 2015 brought together 15 CAT therapists from around the north west.
The meeting included an hour-long Skills Lab with Professor Glenys Parry on Social Support Network Analysis. Glenys shared her knowledge and experience of research on social support and social network analysis. She described different forms of social support and kept a focus on relational aspects. This included snags which might prevent the individual from mobilising and making use of available supports. She encouraged participants to think about how social support can be given sufficient consideration in therapy, given its importance in maintaining well being and mental health.
Participants had a chance to practise analysing their own social networks. Simple techniques for use in the consulting room were introduced, to aid conversations about better understanding and mobilising potential support. Further details are available in the download below:
