Introducing the Cognitive Analytic Therapy Training Films ~ Series 1

Catalyse trainers produced a series of twelve films which demonstrate key concepts and skills in cognitive analytic therapy (CAT), for use in a training context. These are illustrated through the story of a fictional sixteen session CAT therapy, which portrays the journey of a client Paul working together with his therapist Lisa.

The films demonstrate and highlight specific CAT competences, relevant to Foundation or Year 1 Practitioner level training. The package includes summaries, learning objectives and training exercises linked to each film, for trainers and learners. Further supporting materials include CAT tools such as the sequential diagrammatic reformulation (CAT map), narrative reformulation (initial CAT letter) and goodbye letters between client and therapist. A copy of the C-CAT measure plus a glossary of CAT terms are included.

You can purchase either a full annual subscription, or a three month subscription, to all twelve films. Learners on subscribing courses can have unlimited access to the films for a small price-per-head individual access fee.

Working With Challenging Situations in Cognitive Analytic Therapy – Series 2

Catalyse have also produced a second series of training films which will be available to stream soon. They illustrate challenging situations that may be encountered in CAT therapy, to support reflection and debate about possible therapeutic responses. Over a series of five films they depict a range of difficulties that may arise, which include:

  • Working with Countertransference
  • Difficult Endings
  • Working With Self States
  • Strong Emotions Online, and
  • Alliance Rupture

In all the films both roles are played either by qualified therapists or actors with a good understanding of CAT. Each film is accompanied by supporting materials to use or adapt for training purposes.
