Overview of workshop:

This workshop introduced the use of cognitive analytic therapy in understanding organisational dynamics and addressing organisational issues. The workshop also introduced new concepts for understanding work organisational systems and linked these with CAT. Through presentations and participative exercises participants were given the opportunity to develop skills in working organisationally from a CAT perspective. Bringing their own organisational issue, participants will had space to explore the ways they might wish to develop their supervisory, managerial or organisational roles given the understandings from the day.

Aims and learning outcomes:

The workshop aimed to help participants to:

  • Understand CAT concepts in relation to organisational dynamics
  • Identify the dynamics operating in their own work organisational context
  • Develop their sense of the impact of the organisational ‘third’ on their supervisory, managerial and peer relationships
  • Take away learning from the day that is  relevant to their own organisational role, with clarity about next steps emerging from this

Who was it for?

The day had relevance for qualified CAT therapists, supervisors and trainers interested in

  • understanding the impact of organisational context on their work
  • developing their organisational thinking using CAT
  • having a space to consider their working relationships

The day was also open to other qualified therapists and professionals with a good working knowledge of CAT, interested in building an understanding of organisational context upon their familiarity with CAT theory and concepts.
