I’m a UKCP registered Cognitive Analytic Psychotherapist and ACAT accredited supervisor with over 20 years experience of working in the NHS in varying areas of mental health. Currently I work in a Psychotherapy Service in Manchester offering individual CAT and have co-facilitated running CAT groups.
I’ve worked in a variety of areas within mental health, including acute/intensive care, adolescent therapeutic community and research. I have extensive experience of working with self-harm, offering very brief Psychodynamic Interpersonal Therapy (PIT) and CAT. Additionally I’ve consulted on research projects to establish therapy within prisons for women who self-harm and provided therapy supervision. I have a particular interest in brief work, promoting therapeutic and relational approaches, and highlighting the benefits of using these skills during assessment.
I have been involved in running workshops and giving presentations on self-harm, risk, group CAT, endings and goodbye letters, and starting up in independent practice. Additionally I have presented on a number of occasions at the annual ACAT Conference. I was an executive member of Catalyse until early 2019 and co-ordinated Personal Reformulations (in addition to being one of the therapists offering this approach). I also co-led the Projects Forum between 2011 and 2017, then led on the development of Café CAT, which was a regular open evening meeting for CPD and networking.
