I am a CAT Psychotherapist, registered with ACAT and UKCP, having trained in the early 1990s at Guy’s Hospital, London. I came into the profession from a background of working with street homeless people in London. Working in the NHS for 21 years, both as a CAT Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Trainer, I eventually became a Head of Psychological Services in Somerset. I have been involved in ACAT for much of that time, chairing both the Exam Board and the Training Committee. I was delighted to have been made a Life Member last year.
Having retired from the NHS in 2022, I now practise CAT independently, offering individual therapy as well as supervision. I continue to teach for a number of CAT courses, which I enjoy immensely. These include the Somerset CAT Practitioner Course that I established back in 2005, and the more recently established NHS England South West CAT Course. I also contribute to the CAT Foundation Course on the Exeter University Doctorate of Clinical Psychology training programme.
In the role of Non-Executive Director for Catalyse I hope to bring perspectives from both the ‘coal face’ in the NHS as well as senior management.
